THE LARGEST WATERCOLOR IN THE SOUTH
I’m thrilled to share Sea Glass No.55 with you! It’s the largest painting I’ve ever created and measures in at over 6ft tall with custom white frame.
I’ve had this painting on my mind for a while and it was one of my major goals to complete this year 🥳 I had the vision for it, but the process was a bit intimidating, even beginning to find paper that large felt like a feat! I imported the lovely 100% cotton paper from France. Then began the work of painting hundreds of little sea glass pieces in varying shades of blue, green, grey, brown and anything in between. The moment of truth was transporting and framing the oversized art. And with a bit of research I believe this painting to be the largest watercolor in the South. Haha, my small claim to fame! I was only able to find a handful of artists working at a similar scale. All that to say, I’m super proud of accomplishing my goal and I love how this piece came out. It’s just as coastal and peaceful as I imagined it would be 🐚

Sea Glass No. 55 was created over the course of a few months, in the artist’s home in sunny Florida. 100% cotton, artisan paper was sourced from France for the large scale project. Hundreds of sea glass pieces were painted using fine watercolor pigments in a variety of blue, green, white, brown, and grey coastal hues. The natural transparency of watercolor paints lends itself especially well to this subject matter, making sea glass a favored muse of the artist. Wisz noted, “I love being able to manage the transparency of the sea glass so effortlessly, so that I can focus more of my energy on the shadows, colors and composition of this collection.”
The painting is finished in a crisp white custom frame, measuring 56”x76.5” and wired to hang.
