NEW SERIES RELEASE, HAPPY TROPICS

Adjustments.jpeg

My latest series, Happy Tropics, was born out of a quarantine art challenge. I was using the challenge to find space to create for myself. Inspirations that I had stored up for ages finally found their way to paper. Once I had explored some of these long standing inspirations I felt I could take a breath and revisit my favorite concepts, particularly the woman holding the parrot. I found this subject so compelling that I decided to kick off a whole series, primarily expressing my love of travel and the tropics. The series pulls various snapshots, like moments of a lovely trip burned into your memory, from the people, flowers, moments and landscape. I’ve explored these varying subjects with a cheery palette and all around happy feeling.

The series is made up of 8 pieces, painted in acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas with 1.5in. deep sides. Some of the pieces have been custom framed in pine. Las Palmas No. 1, 2, and 3 have an additional layer of exploration with crayon. The subtle marks in the landscapes are playful and wild. All of the paintings are varnished with a semigloss for a light sheen and longevity.

It is my hope that these pieces will find their way into your beautiful spaces and bring and air of joy and sunshine to you daily.

Thank you for checking out my latest series!
